Review: The Vow

I’ve been very excited about this movie ever since I saw the trailer. Who wouldn’t?

I mean, it has everything that a girl would love: it’s a love story, it has amnesia somewhere on the story, some sweet dialogs and of course CHANNING TATUM! He would surely hunt me forever.

So finally, G.p and I watched it for our pre-Valentine date. (Note: We don’t have an actual Valentine Date.)

I’m so inspired specially knowing that it is based on an actual love story. That it is not just a product of someone’s wild imagination. That sometime ago, someone has actually experience those and was able to live a happy ever after.

There are scenes in the movie that made G.p and I cry a little. It was just that, you really could feel how much the guy loved his wife and you could feel his pain. Like a true blue emo and hopeless romantic, I was really affected by every scene.

I hear some didn’t much like it but I honestly do. The movie simply shows the story of two people. Their struggles and how they were able to win over it. It reminds us that no matter how much a mind tries to forget, the heart would surely remember.

We have loved once or twice or more and we all know know how great it is to fall in love. And sometimes, not all love story is as easy as 1-2-3. Most of the time, love is a war, a battlefield. You have to fight for it, you have to win it over, you have to gain it, to deserve it. That most of the time, you have to fight to keep what you have.

#Shopaholic: Butterflies and Colors on my Bag!

Lately some people, or better yet, someONE has been harassing me! Someone from an IP around Caloocan, Quezon City. However, that detail is not accurate since most are already on mobile net or wireless something (no more techie please!) So to you, thank you for making me a rich girl by surfing through my blog posts! And since you sound like someone who doesn’t have class nor breeding, I would like to give you my biggest smile. :-D Mwah! I love you!

Now on to my blog. I decided to show you guys my latest find. It’s a white canvass bag with butterfly details and sequins all over. The handle is made of bamboo which gave that extra ummhhpp!

I so love the bag because it can hold sooo much stuffs and it’s not too bulky. Plus it’s so fashionable and cute. :-) All my friends are going gaga over it.

You’d surely see it on my future blog posts. Been using it for days!!

My blog is a happy place. And I would like to share happiness to my readers by keeping the Good Vibes in my site.

Fashion for me is a passion. Some may not understand my version of it (hell! even my bestfriend calls me weird) but just like religion and the many aspects of life, fashion is subjective. What for me might work won’t work for others and vice versa. I have long accepted the fact that dressing up is an everyday battle field. Fighting for the people around you who’ll call you weird, fighting against yourself because definitely, you would like to be prettier than yesterday.

I am happy that I was able to improve the fashion sense of some of my friends thru my blog. I see them everyday and I see the change in them. I am glad that eventually I was able to unleash their inner fashionista and confidence. I am glad to prove to everyone that you don’t need to look like a doll to be called fashionable. You just need to be yourself and be comfortable in your own skin.

Anyway, that’s just me saying my piece. This ends here because as I’ve said, we are on a happy place!

Now to my fashion blog! Hahaha.. Last Saturday, my friends and I went to Star City then had an amazing dinner at Mongolian. My friends are really young at heart and loves to go around and play.

I opted to wear something comfy. Of course! I’d be walking and playing and eating the whole day. And since I know we’d have feast in the evening, I opted to wear a lose top so as to hide my tummy.

Since I really wanna be comfy that day, I paired my lose top with one of my comfiest pair of shorts. Not to mention they’re bright and cute. But I had one dilemma that day. Cellulites! I swear, I gained so much weight that my legs are starting to have cellulites and they make me a little bit conscious. I’m sure some of you also have the same problem. My solution? Wear a long cardigan!

Swear! They’re effective in hiding the cellulites and not to mention your arms as well. Thats exactly what I did here. :-P See? You don’t need to look like Barbie to dress up. And not because you gained some weight doesn’t mean you can forget about trying to look good. The key here is to know what to wear to hide those unwanted stuffs.

It’s Jeans Day!

Friday is jeans day for us in my office. Most of my officemates would go for the casual tee + jeans on a Friday and be safe. They’d put on some sneakers and they’re ready.

But of course not me! :-) Although most of the time I opted to tame down my outfits on Fridays, I still want to be fashionable. SIMPLE and FASHIONABLE is the key here.

Like my outfit below. That’s my lamest try on being simple. I put on some jeans, my tattered blue top, some low heeled wedges plus accessories. See? SIMPLE indeed.

Simple right? But notice the little details! My top shouts fashyown. Simply fashyown. The tattered details and the sequined design on the chest. Enough for me to opt out the necklace. That’s one thing to remember, if you’ve got details or designs on the front of your shirt, do not put on your funky necklace! You don’t want your friends to get dizzy just by looking at you and the too many designs on your chest.

And since blue is a bit dark already, I opted to pop some color by wearing my uber cute yellow feather earrings. Again, a pop of color here and there wont hurt. Just don’t overdo it or you’ll end up like a clown.

I stayed on the metal themed accessories and another pop of color, this time a bit darker that the yellow one, a green bracelet. They are perfect for my simple peg.

I decided to bring my bright yellow bag and complete the outfit with my black wedge pumps – low-heeled and comfy. Whoever says you can’t be simple and fashionable? Remember, in dressing up, every detail matters. We don’t like to overdo things or be under dressed. Be mindful of the colors and the accessories. Also, be comfortable in what you wear. :-) Wear things that would make you happy. Know your body type and be mindful of the venue always.

I haven’t had a “personal blog” for the longest time. This blog started as my outlet. Where I simply pour my heart out and complain and rant and shout and cry. And then I changed. I matured. I wanted something fun and I wanted to share the best of my life. And then I forgot that I am human.

For the past year, I’ve had a roller coaster of emotions. Buong buhay ko alam ko kung ano ang gusto ko. Kung ano ang makakapagpasaya sa akin. Madalas hindi nila maintindihan. Madalas, weird! Madalas, akala ng iba MALI. Pero wala akong pakielam. Kasi ako naman to eh. Ako to! At ang kaligayahan ko ay hindi nakabase sa iisipin ng iba. My friends are very vocal in letting me know how jealous they are of me. Of the way I view things. Dahil matapang kong hinaharap ang lahat. Nang walang takot at walang pakielam sa panghuhusga.

Masaya ako. Hindi perpekto ang buhay ko pero masaya ako. Ginagawa ko ang gusto ko at masaya ako. Nabubuhay ako sa ngayon ng hindi natatakot sa kinabukasan at hindi iniisip ang nakaraan. Ngayon lang ang mahalaga. Dahil ngayon lang ang hawak ko.

But for the past year, I have done things and things that hurt me and the people around me. Simply because I came to the point where I don’t know what could really make me happy. I wanted to be happy. I honestly do. Who wouldn’t want that right? But there are times when I am not because the person whose supposed to make me happy is driving me crazy.

Noon, pag mahal ko, ginagawa ko ang lahat. Binibigay ko ang lahat. Pero kapag hindi na ko masaya, kapag sumobra na, kapag sobra ng sakit, iniiwan ko na. I let go easily because I know I did everything. And that is enough. If it still won’t work, then I can no longer do anything about it.

And then again I matured. I changed. Now I still give my all but love myself at the same time. Hindi ko sinasabing mali. Hindi din ako magmamalinis at sasabihing wala akong ginagawang mali. Sa totoo, masama ako. Pero mahirap magmahal ng taong ayaw patalo. Dahil hindi din naman ako nagpapatalo.

Kagaguhan! Pero ang kagaguhang yon ang kailangan ko. Sa kagustuhan kong malaman ang gusto ko madami akong nagawang mali. Dahil ayaw kong magpakita ng kahinaan, nahihirapan akong mabuhay. Hindi ako to! Pag masakit, sumisigaw ako ng “aray!”. Pag masarap, sinasabi ko. Pag masaya ako, tumatawa ako. At kapag mahal ko, ipinagsisigawan ko. Pero hindi ko yun magawa ngayon.

Masakit na pero ngumingiti pa ko. Masaya ako pero hindi ko maipakita. Gustong gusto ko pa pero hindi ko masabi. At mahal na mahal ko pero hindi ako mapaniwalaan dahil hindi ko mapakita ng tama!

Parang nagka-clash! Parang may hindi tama. Madalas nakakapagod pero kung iisipin mo, dun ka masaya eh! Pero gusto mo din sumaya sa iba. Pero iba pa din pag andun sya. Iba pa din pag sya. Pag wala sya nakakamiss. Pag andyan, nakakainis na masaya na nakakabwiset. Gusto mong gawin ang gusto mo pero gusto mong umuwi sa kanya.

Magulo! I’ll take this opportunity to think. To ask for the impossible. To wish that both of us would be enlightened. That somehow, we’d eventually meet halfway, where both are happy.

We are too much different and we so much alike. We love each other too much and we love ourselves too much as well. Our views are very different and we are both complicated. But I am wishing deep in my heart, when all this has passed, we would eventually be happy again. Together. Forever. Till we grow old and gray.

I still want to spend the rest of my life with you.

Prints + Stripes + Checks

Here’s what I wore on my IPL session last Saturday.

I swear I didn’t think it’d be this cute! As much as I would like to tell you guys I’m Fashyown that way, it’s actually just a product of accidence. I just wanted a sleeveless outfit with cardigan so I could easily take off my cardigan during IPL session to avoid the hassle of me taking off my shirt. And then I saw this oversized boyfriend shirt (overused actually) that I wore here and it matched my sleeveless dress!

I’m such a huge fan of Print-on-Prints and I love playing on them. I’m so happy I did a great job here. (At talagang I claimed na I did a great job diba?) Anyway, I add the belt to make my dress more girly. And to top it all off, I used my Banig Mini Shoulder Bag that I got from my Cebu Tour. The bag is sort of checkered but it’s also blue (which by the way is my fave color lately, blame the gorgeous nail polish!). I honestly thought of using my solid blue handbag but I guess adding another print won’t hurt. And I honestly love that it looked great.

Of course, I wore my now-favorite sandals (Christmas gift from Mila)! It’s comfy and Fashyown. Simple. I guess you could never really go wrong on strappy sandals.

I also lie-low on my accessories. Lately, I’ve been doing that. Turning minimalistic when it comes to accessories. I don’t know. I guess I just wanted people to focus more on my outfit or the overall peg. So there!

The moment I got my on hands on my gorgeous blue necklace that I mentioned here, I have been dying to wear it. I was initially thinking of wearing it on some special occasion but the silly me just found myself building my entire outfit based on the necklace the following day. Excited much!

So for my outfit… since the necklace shouts elegance and sophistication and blue and nature and love, I wore a simple tube midi-dress and matched it with a brown wide belt. I looked like I’m about to go to the prom! But I really think I haven’t dressed up for quite some time so I surely think this outfit is so fitting.

All my accessories are all on the blue, brown and native style pieces to have that matchy-matchy look. Though I think blue and brown are too dark already so I finish my outfit with a white cardigan and a pair of bronze sandals. I opt out the heels because I already looked too fab and formal. This is me trying to tame down my look. nyahahaha…

I love playing with colors and experimenting on my look. I’m weird like that. I just hope I’ll lose some more pounds. I kinda lose a little after getting sick for a week but I really want to go back to my old self so I can wear my outfits again. :’( It must be old age and matakaw friends. But I am determined to achieve that gorgeous body in time.

I’m not afraid of Colors

I’m very colorful on my second day back at work. I woke up not feeling well again so I decided to dress up and wore something to uplift my spirit. Naks!

Though my peg shouts SUMMER on a cold January day, it honestly helps me to feel a bit better. Plus, my cotton dress is so comfy. Perfect for my ‘just got better look’.

If you’ll check my wardrobe, you’ll see loads of items that can be worn on different occasions. As a thrift shopper and a very kuripot fashionista, it is important that our wardrobes are flexible. I do loads of Mix and Match and I accessorize. Take this dress for example, this is actually a summer cotton dress that I bought for my summer outings at the beach. But put on some belt and throw on some cardigan, and voila! I got myself a work outfit. That’s’ exactly what I did here and here.

Accessories also play a great part here. If you think your dress has that casual look but you want them worn on your business days, wear accessories that are more sophisticated and business-like. Wear something simple in gold or silver and keep your accessories to a minimum. Just the basics so you won’t look like a Christmas tree or something.

Just take off the cardigan and you’re good to go for a night out!

The belt really nailed it. Versatility is the key here I guess. And girls, never be afraid of colors. I noticed that most girls tend to ward off on bright colors for some reason. Hey! Splash of colors are great and fun. So don’t be afraid to wear your colors. I know that black and white are so safe but those are dull.

Apologies for the photos. Hahahaha.. I asked my 9 yr old cousin to take my outfit shots on my room. Yup! My room is colorless. I love the wood on my wall I can’t afford to color them. And apologies for the messy bed as well. I just got home and well. Well, my bed is always messy anyway. >:)

P.S. I wore grey pumps at work to match my belt. I avoid to add another color on my very colorful peg so there! Sorry it’s not on the photos, I can’t wear shoes on my bed! Silly. Hehehe….

Review: Chicken Savory

This one’s an old favorite. You can never go wrong in this resto. They have like the yummiest chicken ever. :-) Although there are loads of yummy dishes here, let me share with you my top 3 picks.

First. (Imagine drumroll here) Their PANCIT CANTON!

I actually prefer Bihon over Pancit Canton but this one is another story. They have like the super yummy Pancit Canton you’ll forget you ever liked Bihon better. Hahahaha…

Second. (Drumroll here again) Their Crispy Fried Chicken!

As I’ve said, this place is well-known for their chicken. Once you’ve tried it, you’d understand what the fuzz is all about. They have an authentic recipe for fried chicken that makes the chicken juicy, yummy and tasty.

Third. (Drumroll once again, to be fair lang! hahaha) Their Yang Chow Fried Rice!

Their Yang Chow is really perfect for me. They’re not too salty like some. Not too bland or oily too. Just perfect. Really perfect. And I love them with the chicken. :-) Match made in heaven really!

So there! Try to visit one of their branches if you’re craving for some Chinese. :-)

Lazy Sweats

I went on SL for a weak because I was down with flu. So on my first day back to work, I was really not in the mood to dress up. I just wanted something comfy and warm.

What did I wear on my just ‘got a little better so I’m back for work day’?

I of course put on some leggings and cardigans that look/feels like a sweater. :-P Is there anything more warm and comfy that a sweater and leggings? Hahaha.. I also ditched my heels and went for my uber comfy leather slippers that I got from Marikina for only Php180! It feels like I’m just home working on my laptop!

I also didn’t put on too much accessories because I honestly can’t make my brain function that morning I can’t bear to think which one goes with another. So I just opted for some funky necklace and rings, and I’m good to go!

It’s so great that I keep a pair of heels on my pedestal. I just leave it there and a pair of slippers also just in case I need one. Girl scout much?

I tell you! A perfect pair of heels really do wonders! They could turn any lazy outfit into fab just like that. Oh whatta life saver they are. And It’s also good that what I have is a pair of wedges that’s uber comfy. I mean 4 hours of walking in the airport is no joke for someone who’s still dizzy because of all the antibiotics that I’m taking.

#Shopaholic: Blue Necklace

I’m a gifted thrift shopper! Swear! My friends always get inggit because I always got cute items on such low prices. A friend even suggested I apply as her official shopper. :-) Which I do once in a while. So I decided to blog about my latest finds. And maybe share some shopping tips here and there.

For my first ever #Shopaholic entry, I decided to show you guys a necklace I recently bought in the streets of Pedro Gil, Manila.

I went to a shop in Pedro Gil to buy something when I passed by an accessory stand in the bangketa. Here goes my shopping tip #1: always check bangketa items! I swear! You would never know what you’d find. Anyway, I checked out the items being sold by Manong which turned out to be native accessories of all shapes and sizes. According to him, all of them are from Cebu and he told me that they never sell 2 items of the same design. Whoah! All of them are so gorgeous I swear! Anyway, I was about to buy a long beaded necklace when I saw this baby. I have been looking for a cute bib necklace for centuries! Alright not that long ago but whatever. I wanted to have one for ages. And the moment I saw this, I know I gotta have them. It’s just perfect. It’s simple and not too chunky. I was actually a bit afraid of buying bib necklace because they give that uberly chunky look. But this one shouts sophistication to the fullest!

I remember seeing similar one in the mall but is uberly pricey. Usually necklace of this quality cost 300-1000 depending on where you buy them. But guess how much mine is? It’s only Php100!!!! How can I not buy them huh. It initially costs 150 but I make tawad of course!

Enchanted Kingdom!

That’s how lame I am! Nyahaha! :-) Another uber uber late blog post.

Anyhooo… Last quarter of last year, I was finally finally able to visit Enchanted Kingdom! Yup! That’s my first time to ever go there. I don’t know! It’s just that I haven’t. I managed to secure free passes via our office so before we went to Bohol G.p and I decided to drop by.

Let me show you now how our day went…

Notice that I decided to tuck my top on the front and let it lose on the back. I just wanted that cape effect! Plus my top is just waaayyy too long that it’s a bit longer than my shorts and I don’t want my shorts to get out of the picture. However, I still like the long tee. So there goes my solution, the cape effect! (Quick fashion blog there, back to regular programming.)

The first thing we tried is the Flying Fiesta! This for me is the best. nyahaha…

Candies!!!!! We hoarded some of these loves, specially the gummy ones. Nyahaha.. Feeling bata talaga!

I don’t know what these are pero feel ko um-emote! So go! And I honestly think I look hot. Tipong napagod lang!

G.p got really really scared here, she literally wants to go out of the boat. As in! I was holding her back telling her there’s no way she could go down! nyahaha…

This is the one we totally enjoyed!! G.p drove while I’m on the passenger seat taking pictures and videos! It’s really fun. Though I honestly don’t want to drive myself. So I let G.p do it for me which she totally loved!!

Notice that I rode Anchors Away alone! I was not able to persuade G.p to accompany me. So I just showed her how much she missed. I love riding Vikings in Star City but I must say that this is indeed waaaaaayyyy better!

We didn’t try this one. G.p asked if I wanted but I honestly don’t like to! Though a teacher, a Physics teacher I guess, told his students, who were about to ride it, to do some experiments. He asked the kids to drop 1 peso and 5 peso coins at the same once they reached the top most and dropped to see which comes first. That’s lesson right outside the classroom! Way to go Sir!

Review: Underworld 4 (Awakening)

Ever since we saw the trailer of the 4th installment of the Underworld series, G.p has been telling me that we’d watch it definitely. And since I haven’t seen any of the previous Underworlds, she bought DVDs of the 3 for us to have our Underworld marathon in preparation of the up coming one.

I there say, I understand why G.p has been bugging me about the film. After watching the first 3, I was also dying to know the next chapter of Selene and Michael’s life.

We initially want to see it in iMax like MI4 (Ghost Protocol) but since I’m down with flu this past week, we’re not able to pre-book. Plus SM MOA is quite far from our place. So we just settled in watching it in 3D, which actually is great but I guess seeing it in iMax would be superb. :-(

I can’t tell what the movie is all about coz I don’t wanna be a spoil sport or whatever. Though one thing I can assure you guys, Kate is awesome! The fight scenes are superb. I really love how Kate manages to do it with class and style that’s truly Vampire-like. (As if I’ve seen a vampire ever!) I swear. She’s just so calm and fierce!

The effects are also nicely done. The effects of 3D is ok but I was not really overwhelmed. I guess I’d feel it more really if it’s in iMax.

Though it’s sooo bitin! G.p just sat there after the film waiting for the after-credits. Haha.. I guess they’ll have the 5th installment brewing already. I can’t wait to see Michael though. :-P

Review: Human Heart Nature

Before 2011 ends, I was introduced to this all organic beauty products – Human Heart Nature!

These are some of the items I got and personally tried:

Sun Flower Beauty Oil. These according to my friend is their number one best seller. It’s their miracle oil that is best to whiten underarms, clear out uneven skin tone, clears stretch marks, can be applied on the hair for a lasting shine, etc. I have tried this and so far, it is indeed is a miracle oil. I have been using this for like 3 weeks already and I love it. I ‘m actually using Nivea Body Oil as my after bath body oil but ever since I tried this, my Nivea is lying on my desk untouched. I promised myself I would just use the remaining ones but I simply cannot get enough of them. They don’t leave that oily feeling (like my Nivea) but it’s so much better. I have really dry skin and ever since I use this, my skin has dramatically improved. But one major thing that really made me fall inlove with this miracle oil is it’s effect on the scar in my knee which I recently got when I stumbled on a sea coral while snorkeling in Bohol (I know! I’m so lampa na kahit sa corals eh nagagawa kong madapa!). Promise! It does lighten my scar! There’s actually 3 of them. One is like mababaw lang na scar and smaller than the two. That mababaw scar is almost not visible now.
Eucalyptus Organic Shaving Oil. This one is another love for me. I don’t really know how to shave properly. Everytime I shave, I always always always hurt myself. I don’t know, maybe because my skin is dry that it’s more prone to getting scratches while shaving or whatever. And recently, since I’m not allowed to wax my underarms because I’m having IPL sessions, this bottle is my life saver. Or more of underarm saver! nyahaha.. You just rub a small amount in your palms and apply them on the area that needs to shaved and then shave them! That’s it. I don’t know how it does it but I guess it makes the skin soft and a little madulas that makes it easier to shave. You don’t need to put pressure or whatever just to ensure that you shave them properly. I love the feel of my legs after shaving! It’s so smooth and soft and scratch-free. Before, everytime I shave my legs, little stubbles of hair would be left out. Sobrang kati at hindi masarap hawakan. But know, I always rub my legs together coz it’s so soft, it feels like I wax them not shave!
Hand and Foot Salve. Alright. You all now know that I am a moisturizer addict. I love lotions and moisturizers and anything that promises all day moisturized and soft skin. So when I saw this, I know I have to buy them. And it didn’t disappoint. I love putting them on my feet and elbows and knees after every bath. And I sure have them with me every day as I am so addict in putting lotions in my hand coz (again) my skin so dry all the time (it’s in the genes, I got that from my grandma! yes! not her mestiza looks but her uber dry skin! loser!). Anyway, this one so much better than lotion. Sometimes, I don’t feel like putting more lotion the whole day coz they feel so moisturized until afternoon. I am inlove with them. I so am.
Body Butter. Ok. Ok. Again. I love these body butter. I just rub them all over my body. As in all over my body. Neck down. And my skin feels like soft the whole day. I love it. It doesn’t feel tight or whatever. Just plain softness the whole day. Who wouldn’t love that? PLUS, it smells great. Like mango! I fell inlove with the smell right away.
Massage Oil. I got this because I love to give G.p a massage once in a while. And I love getting massaged as well. This oil is perfect. Since it’s Virgin Coconut Oil, it’s massage and beauty in one. I got the Eucalyptus one so it feels warm in the body. Perfect. Plus it’s not so sticky like some massage oil. Just perfect.

I’m all good words for the products of Human Heart Nature because they all are great. I love that after using all of them I feel so soft and my skin feels like that of a baby’s. I would like to get their toner and facial wash as soon as my current stock runs off.

For the longest time now, I have been planning to switch to all organic products (that’s the nature lover in me). But I found them so expensive. But Human Heart Nature is so affordable. I swear. So how cool is that? You’re beautiful and you don’t feel guilty for harming our beloved mother earth. :-)

Review: One 4 da Road (Panglao Island, Bohol)

One uber late post! :-) I know! I know! I’m such a loser!

Anyway, days before our Cebu-Bohol Trip, we’re still looking for a place to stay. G.p and I met with 2 more friends in Bohol and we’ll be enjoying Bohol with them. I was all on the package in Dumaluan but they find it a bit pricey. Thank God a friend’s friend recommended One 4 da Road.

I was initially hesitant about it. I mean, haven’t heard of the place and all but it only cost around Php1450 per night for 4 pax and they have our major requirement… a heater! So I agreed.

I’m so glad I did agree though. The place is actually great! The room is clean and the people there are nice. If you’ll consider the price, it is really one major jackpot. It’s also just like 5 minutes away from the Alona Beach and near the resto. It feels like staying in Boracay actually.

One4daRoad is actually a Bar and Bistro but they have Bed and Breakfast located at the back of the bar. :-) It’s a nice place frequented by foreigners.

Our room cost Php1200/night. But we got an extra bed for our guy friend that cost additional Php250. So we only paid Php1450/night for the for us! What a bargain!

Our room has all the basic things that a traveller needs. They provide a safe for us to put in our valuables like phones and cash. Though their safe is not as big as our hotel room in Cebu which can hold our netbook but I guess it’s fine. They have the basics covered.

Of course, we have an AC. It’s pretty new actually. The entire room is new. I guess they have just recently ventured into Bed and Breakfast thingy.

We also have a cable TV. Though we seldom use this one but it’s nice to have it specially while killing time at night!

Since this room is for the travellers like us, they only have a little space where we can put our things and a small space to hang our clothes.

One of the things I check first in any hotel room is their bathroom. I mean, we need them clean right? So I am so glad that One4daRoad didn’t disappoint me. The bathroom is clean and they have water heater! Yey!

Also provided are some basic toiletries and towels. G.p and I didn’t bring our own towel so imagine how glad we are with them. Plus, their towels doesn’t smell like the ones we had in Diplomat.

To those twitter addicts like me but is not on data plans, you would find that staying here is one great decision. They’ve got Wi-Fi!!!! Yes! I didn’t really expect it. And well, I’m on data plans so I’m not really in dire need of it but I have my netbook with me. So I squeeze in one quick blog post while travelling. How cool is that?

Hello There Blue Ice!

I just got myself a new lappy. Yey!

I was actually just using an Acer Aspire Netbook (thanks G.p) for all my computing needs but I guess being a blogger requires a much powerful one. Though I love the fact that a netbook is small enough to fit my handbag, I guess there are loads of other important things that I need but is not present on these petite gadgets!

I was initially eyeing a Samsung 11.6” laptop but G.p says I really need a bigger screen for my photo editing and blog-reading stuffs. So when we saw Blue Ice, G.p told me that we are destined to be together.

Blue Ice is an Acer Aspire 4750 series blue laptop. Specs are great considering the price. And it’s 14” screen is big enough for my needs.

Review: C Fu Asian Cooking

I received something in the mail today that’s worth celebrating. So G.p and I tried this Asian restaurant right in front of Robinson’s Ermita. We’re actually thinking of where to eat when G.p saw the huge banner outside C Fu showing some yummy prawns and it’s decided. We’ll have those prawns for dinner!

The moment we entered, we’re immediately ushered to our seat and served with their house tea (Ceylon Tea specifically, I know coz I asked! :-P). We had Singapore Cereal Prawns (which we saw on the banner outside) and Yang Chow fried rice. According to them, their serving is good for 2-3 persons. And the moment our orders arrived, I realized they’re lying! Their servings are actually huge enough for 3-4 persons! We also had Almond Milk Tea.

Overall, the meal is yummy. Though their Yang Chow is not the best one I tried but it’s ok. It’s actually very tasty. I guess I’m just so used to Chinese restaurants serving uberly yummy food that for me it’s just typical to be served with delicious yang chow.

But since it’s the first time I tried Singapore Cereal Prawns, I would say I loved it. I loved that the cereal compliments the prawn. It has that very light sweetness in it that I so love. Though G.p find it hard to eat it because the prawns still had their shells on. So, naghimay ako ng bongga!

Forgive me! I can’t think of a better blog title. I’m currently on my sick bed. Wasn’t able to go to work since Friday. First because of intense body pains caused by my new hobby (G-Y-M) and now because I’m a woman! Yes! Dysmenorrhea it is.

Anyway, I wore this some time last week. And when G.p saw it, she told me it’s the worst outfit ever! :-p I guess the fash-yown goddess failed me that day. hahahaha.. But whatever! Got this uber-cutie yellow skirt from my favorite store now, Landmark. Yey! I initially saw it in Cinderella at Rob Ermita and it’s on sale at around Php300+. I was already holding it and could not let go but I notice it’s a bit damage beyond repair so I didn’t get it.

So, guess how glad I am when I saw it in Landmark and costs Php200 only!

Review: Manila Kingpin, the Untold Story of Asiong Salonga

The first time I’ve heard of it was on an office Spam Thread Email. We’re talking about what film to watch for MMFF when a guy officemate suggested Kingpin, and all of us are like “eeeeewww!”. Swear! I am guilty of the same reaction cause I haven’t heard of the film at all! Well, that’s not unlikely cause I seldom watch telly. But still, just the mere title suggested it was that “typical action film”.

Now every time I remember that incident I can’t help but feel so much guilty *face palm*. I swear I won’t be judgmental EVER again! ‘Coz honestly, THIS IS ONE HELL OF A GREAT MOVIE! That is coming from someone who’ve watched so many movies this year I lost count already. Ever since I went out with G.p, I have been watching movies like there’s no tomorrow. Been buying DVDs here and there. Been a regular on most cinemas. And for the first time in my entire existence, been updated with the latest movies. We had the privilege of watching Rosario last year, which honestly deserved that Best Picture trophy and Jennilyn Mercado, in all honesty, deserved that Best Actress award; and we’re like WOW! We never thought that an action film would be of the same quality.

The movie is superb. Shot in entirely Black and White which just seals in the EPIC vibe of the film. People are asking me how it feels watching in black and white. Honest? After like 5 minutes, I totally forgot it’s not colored! Swear! Though it’s black and white, it is indeed of very much high quality. The images are sharp and well defined, that you would forget you’re not seeing colors at all.

The entirety of the film is very much classy. Though some of the dialogues are quite off, but when you think about it, the setting is on the 1940’s-1950’s! Common’! People are on that era are actually a bit off! They speak a bit off. I could tell, because I’ve watched a couple of old movies as well and I can’t help but laugh most of the time because of the way people act then. So I guess, the movie just stays true to what they are trying to imply.

The actors are also very very very good. Carla Abellana has always been my favorite and she doesn’t disappoint me here. She’s gorgeous and very much talented. John Regala well deserved that trophy for he is indeed a revelation in this film. I hate him to the core while watching him portray Totoy Golem. All of Asiong’s sidekicks are indeed very talented. Even Amay Bisaya is hilarious. And of course, we all know George Estregan is one hell of an actor. He’s done a great job here. I honestly thought it’ll be jologs to watch him play Asiong but he is soo totally not! He is perfect for the role actually. Considering that Asiong himself is like that “goony-goony” type of guy. Though G.p and I thinks that if the producers wants sell-ability on the film, a great option would be Dennis Trillo. Imagine Dennis doing all those Asiong moves? It’s great right? But I guess the producers doesn’t want that matinee vibe on Asiong. But of course, a girl can’t hope enough. Hahaha..

Until now, G.p and I are still on the Asiong mood and funny as it may sound but we are still mimicking all of Asiong’s moves. Or more like, G.p’s still doing all those Asiong moves. Swear! She would call me Erning Tutpik, sometimes Fidela or at times Totoy Golem. She would do all of those “bang! bang!” moves and everything. Hilarious but cute.

My verdict? A must see movie. Tangkilikin natin ang sariling atin. Don’t be judgemental for heaven’s sake. Not because you watched Kingpin doesn’t mean you’re jologs. Or not because you watch Pinoy films doesn’t mean you have low taste in Films. Actually, in all honesty, we have loads of great films! Way better than Hollywood I tell you! And Kingpin is one of them. Appreciate the art, the beauty behind the film. Most critics are just like that. Critics! Watch and see for yourself.

18th Month @ CBD

It’s our 18th month of being together! Yey!

After everything we’ve been through, we managed to stay together and we’ve reached this far. Ours is still a work in progress, I guess we’ve endured too much that we still need to patch things up but we’re getting there.

So for this wonderful occasion, we’ve decided to celebrate it at the Ayala Triangle. With the beauty of the entire city as our view.

As usual, almost all of the more popular restos are packed so G.p and I decided to try out CBD. Actually, this is not my first in this resto and I’ve actually blogged about it here. But then, I only tried their milkshake and fries.

G.p and I got Grilled Pork Chops served with rice and coleslaw, and the Spaghetti and Burger Meal served with a regular drink. I initially thought we’ll just get the pork chops since G.p eats as much as a cockroach. But I was shocked that she insisted we get the spaghetti and burger as well.

The pork chop is yummy. The pork is tender and it’s not too much salty. I love that it’s a bit sweet and salty at the same time. I also loved the coleslaw. I finished it right away. :-P I can say that just 1 order of this is enough for the 2 of us. I was really full after finishing this dish and we didn’t order for extra rice take note.

I was telling G.p that we’d just have the spag and burger for take out but to my surprise, G.p finished it off too! :-) She just initially tried it but I guess she must have liked what she tasted for she finish it all off. Oh well, I had a couple of bites though. Hehe.. The spaghetti is OK. Just ok and not really special. My favorite is still Pancake House’s spag. But the burger is another story! It’s really 100% beef and you can taste the difference. Though it really is a bit heavy on the stomach. But I really loved their burger. Swear! Maybe even more than my love for Brother’s Burger but still Carl’s Jr is the best for me EVER! (why did they leave Manila btw? I’m still heartbroken)

A proof that we liked what we had? There! Empty plates. Pwede nang itaob ulit! We’d definitely go back. G.p is dying to try their milkshakes so I guess we’ll visit again soon.

I know it’s been ages since my last post and I’m so sorry! :-) I’ve been convincing myself to blog for the past days but I guess I’m having that seasonal writer’s block. #feelingera

I guess I’m just lazy like that.

Anyway, let me start 2012 with good vibes. Just pure Good Vibes! And I would like to reserve my first ever blog for 2012 with lots of Thank You’s!!

1. Of course, the biggest THANK YOU ever goes to the Big Guy Up There. Who showers me with so much blessings I lost count already. I tried to end 2011 by giving back all those love and blessings to the people in need thru my own little way as a big thank you to Him. A friend told me she finds me nice and all because I really went out of my way and really exerted extra effort to help in every way possible but I told him I am just giving back all the blessings I received this year. I honestly think that Christmas means loving and sharing and giving. And I guess my new year’s resolution (if I ever have one) would be to make everyday of 2012 Christmas day! Yey! So to you Big Guy… THANK YOU again. Simply for every single thing. And I may not show it at times, but I love you and I am keeping my faith on you.

2. To the FAMILY who’s always been there for me. Alright! Alright! Maybe I don’t have that normal family that most have.. But I guess God knew me well enough for He gave me the craziest family ever! I have a Father who shouts at everything and everyone but never fails to provide for us. His job is so difficult but he’s doing it because he love us unconditionally. I have an extremely craaazzzyyy Mother. Everyone who knew me would definitely know Mila because she always have those funny antics that brought tears to my friend’s eyes (due to extreme laughing). She is just plain crazy. Period. But she never fails to take care of us. She’s just supportive to the point that she’s willing bring fruit salad in a styrofoam cooler (even if it makes her look like an Ice Candy vendor) just so my officemates and I can have something for dessert on our year-end party and until now, she’ll hug me to sleep if I’m sick. I have a sister who loves me and adores me. Na sumusundo sakin gabi-gabi nung wala pa syang trabaho. A sister who’s always been my friend and my kakampi at all times. I have brother who… well, who asks money all the time and asks me to buy him stuffs and stuffs but I just love him like that. And I’m sure he loves me too. And I have a baby brother who serves as my lucky charm. The one person who could bring me unconditional joy by simply smiling at me. :-) Plus! I have cousins and uncles and aunts and nieces and nephews who love and respect me. I know they’ll move heaven and earth if anybody ever hurt me. I feel so secure when they’re around. And I am thankful for them.

3. To G.p and her entire family. I have someone who loves me unconditionally. She may be a big pain in my $*% at times and uber hot-headed and uber selosa and stuffs but I guess that’s part of the bargain. That one person who loves me for who I am. Even if I haven’t taken a bath or brushed my teeth or even if I smelled and even if I again act like a dragon breathing fire on her or even if I have topak. Thank you baby sa mga food trip, restaurant hopping, movie trips sa iMax, sa pagtututo sakin ng pagiging maarte sa sinehan (now gusto ko na din ng comfy seats, bigger screens, no ulo on the front, etc), our 3D movie trips, DVD marathons, TV series marathons, sa pagiging Star addict na namana ko na sayo, for being my buddy on most of the 1sts I ever had this year, for all our out of town escapades, for being with me in Cebu and Bohol, for buying my netbook (yey!), for supporting me sa aking blogging and lahat ng kaartehan, sa pagiging main contributor ng aking katabaan, for being my fashion consultant and detractor, for joining me in the Twitterverse, for introducing all the Mission Impossibles to me, for giving me Starbucks planner two years in a row, for all those massage kahit I know you’re very tamad, for loving my family, for accepting all my mistakes, for being there when I’m sick and lonely and alone and tired, sa lahat lahat na hindi ko na ma-mention dahil humahaba na to. Add the fact that her entire family just love me and accepts me and treats me like a part of them. I never felt like an outsider when I’m with them. It’s great to have an extended family of some sorts and I love each and everyone of them to bits. See? I am soo blessed. Thank you soooo much!

4. To my best friends ever. Jerellt who recently got married pero parang wala namang nagbago. My number 1 critic and my number 1 fan. That one person na never akong kinampihan sa lahat unless manlalait kami ng kung sino but feels my pains and my heartaches and my sentiments anyway. Erlie who I thought would finally have a lovelife but I guess not. I seldom see her or talk to her or whatever but knowing she’s just there is enough for me to feel secure. Knowing I will never be alone. And my HighSchool Barkada (MA3E) who I seldom see also but love me still. Sometimes its like that. You don’t need to see each other to know that the love is still there. You would know because they never forget to invite you on important occasions or greet you or comment on your Facebook page or send you a random message. Marie even helped my sister get a job. And even if I’m the official indianera, they love me still. See? That is unconditional love! And most of all you feel and you know that they love you still. Aaawww…

5. To the Mates (my office friends). The people I see everyday. The people I spend most of my time with. May it be work-related or fun-related stuffs. I am just glad I have them. We share the same values and trips and we have the same definition of fun. Remember my blog entry here? I am referring to them. I can’t be any more than thankful that I’ve got friends like them. They are with me on most of my charity-related stuffs and I know they are doing it because they want to really help. Why am I saying this? Because I want to remember it! And I want you guys to know that helping doesn’t need to be grand. Honestly, most of us just contributed our time and efforts and a very little money. But I know it helped a lot and it feels great. Because I am with my friends while doing all of it. And we all had fun doing it. Oh and before I forgot! I would like to thank you guys for all our videoke nights na walang alak, overnights, team buildings, KFC food trips, McDo food trips, Bon Chon foodtrips, lahat ng food trips actually, sa mga Surprise! na hindi naman surprise, sa paminsan minsan na inuman, overstaying at the office, lunch time games, movie dates, paunahan sa pag-register sa movie nights, usapan sa Chat Group, Joy Rides, all the laughs and the love! Thank you for making my year awesome. I’m just glad we’re friends! aaawww… (Weh! Nag effort pa ko eh hindii nyo naman binabasa blog ko!)

6. To everyone who love me. My friends from way back like old officemates, team mates, high school classmates, college batchmates, my officemates and my boss, my fellow morning rushers and my favorite DJs, my blog readers who also happens to be my friends, my twitter followers (all 140++ of them), my ex’s whom I’m friends with, my neighbors, my travel buddies, EVERYONE who contributed to my great 2011! :-)

I know it’s kinda long and you’re probably bored to death by now but whatever! :-) I am just very much thankful, that’s all! It has been a great year for me. Oh how time flies. My 2010 didn’t end great with all the loss we’ve had and 2011 haven’t been a walk in the clouds but we managed! We’re all here alive and kicking and for me that’s all that matters. As I say goodbye to 2011, I made sure I take note of all the lessons learned so I’d carry it with me as I fight another round of battle this 2012.

I slept last night with an aching body. Everything normal. I tweet. I checked my Facebook. Blogged. Just the normal.

And then I woke up and I’m Rapunzel…

Nyahaha.. I know! I know! You would have asked me where I got that long curly hair of mine when just hours ago I only have my sleek short hair. :-) Let me tell you!

My uncle woke me up early and told me to take a bath and he simply put extensions on my hair. Hahaha.. Early in the morning, we are both cramped up trying to fix this messy hair of mine and giving me a new look! Everybody at work we’re so shocked. I was initially wearing pants but I changed into a more girly outfit after the hair do to match it with my look.

So, how is it? Did you like it? I absolutely adore my new wavy hair. I swear. But I have to remove them later tonight as they are only clipped under my short hair. But anyway, it feels great to look different once in a while. And for no reason at all!! :-)

As for my outfit, as I’ve said I wore something girly and flattering. But again, I kept my accessories to a minimum. Just a huge ring and my usual stuffs. It’s not really noticeable but I’m actually wearing some pearl studs. Really simple but elegant. So me! :-)

Of Skulls and Crowns

It’s jeans day for the rest of the year! But for the past weeks, I’m having one major problem. I can’t wear jeans because none in my closet fits me. I swear! I must have piled up 20lbs more or less. And in a snap I have nada! Nothing to wear honestly. So notice the lack of outfit posts.

But last night, a friend of mine encouraged me to run. Just did a couple of rounds in the Ayala Triangle. We did a combination of walking and jogging. And it honestly feels great! But guess what’s the best part of that? I was able to squeeze my fat bottom on one of my jeans! It’s a bit tight I tell you but at least I was able to zip it up!

I paired it up with a lose top to hide the unwanted fats but I made sure it’s still a bit sexy. I mean, I know I’m kinda obese but I still need to look gorgeous and hot right?

Anyway, the top may seem ok but look how great the back is!! It’s a bit see-through with the gorgeous crown and skull prints (hence the title of my blog entry). The back is also a bit longer than the front thus having that “cape-effect”. Don’t you love it? I mean we girls must always always wear some statement pieces and this top shouts HOT the moment I wear it. I also put my accessories on a minimum, just wore the basic ones to give the top all the attention it needs. I guess I succeeded because everyone just loved it. They adore the off-shoulder look but they all wow’d when they see the back. :-)

Anyway, I browsing some old photos and I really wanna go back to my old size. I swear! if this carries on, I’d be a whale in no time. I hope I’d get back to my body this 2012. Wish me luck!

I didn’t really expect I’d pull it off. I mean, if you would notice my Barong is too big for me, it being in Men’s size and the alteration was not done properly. I was supposed to wear just the Kengkoy shirt and a day before the party, I was looking for a cute skirt or shorts to match it up. So my friends and I went to Landmark to get something for me to wear when I stumbled upon those love skirts. I really think ‘twas a tube top but the moment I tried it on, I know I should get them. The prints are perfect as they shout tribal! And they are perfect for my tee as well as my barong. And guess what? I got them for Php 150!!

My look without the Barong is also great! The Kengkoy Tee is uber cute. I removed the barong right after the party. I tell you, there’s a reason why men hate wearing them!

But that’s not the end of it all, I saw 2 of my most loved blogger wearing the same skirt! I’m dead serious. I was uber excited I need to mention them.

Review: Mission Impossible 4 Ghost Protocol

I am not a Tom Cruise fan. Maybe my mother is, but definitely not me! I actually kinda don’t like him. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just that there are some people that you really don’t like for no reasons at all. People say he’s gorgeous and uberly handsome, but I really think he’s not! I don’t watch any of his movies no matter how great they are. I just can’t stand watching him.
But then, I saw Mission Impossible 4. And my world turned upside down. The first time I saw the trailer, I can’t deny the chemistry between Tom and Me. :-P I told myself, I HAVE TO WATCH THIS!
So last Saturday, G.p treat me to the cinema. Not just the regular ones I tell you! We watched MI4 in iMax!
My verdict? Let me put it this way, this movie made me fall inlove with Tom Cruise. :-)
I love the action, the suspense, the plot… everything! I just loved it. And now G.p just bought me a copy of MI1-3! Nyay!
I won’t be a spoil sport but I am giving you my word. This movie is worth it! Paying extra bucks for iMax is uber worth it. That’s how much I enjoyed the film. And that is coming from someone who used to not like Tom Cruise. Nyaks!

Vanity Much

A lot of my readers have been bugging me to share my beauty secrets. Finally, I gave in! :-) Joke lang! Wala naman nangungulet talaga, gusto ko lang i-post!

So anyway, I would like to share with you what I believe is the BASIC make up kit that every girl should have…

A good facial moisturizer. I am a firm believer that it is most important to keep our face moisturized. To achieve that younger looking skin and fresh look. If we take care of our skin, we definitely need less make up. I use OLAY Total Effects and OLAY White Beauty Moisturizer simply because they are perfect for me. I love the fact that they are not oily at all and they keep my face moisturized the whole day. They are a bit pricey but definitely worth it. (Note: you have to make sure though that before you apply moisturizer, your face must be clean.)
An eyelash curler and a perfect mascara. Our eyes is the window of our souls. It is typical to hear guys say that the first thing they look at a girl is their eyes. I believe it so. And having that thick lashes add beauty and glamour in an instant. And most of the time, you don’t need an eye shadow to brighten your eyes. Just use an eyelash curler and apply a blob of mascara and you’re good to go. I use Fanny Seranno’s Mini Eyelash Curler and The Magnum Volume Express Super Film Mascara by Maybelline. I love the fact that my eyelash curler is small and doesn’t occupy much of space, also I use it to curl even those hard to curl areas that most normal size curlers can’t reach. As for my mascara, I used to be a fan of MAC mascaras. However, price-wise they are not worth it. Most mascaras tend to dry up within 2 months so I really think buying those expensive ones are ridiculous. Thank goodness to a friend of mine who introduced me to Maybelline and their great but affordable mascaras! Yey! I have found my perfect match. :-) So far, I am loving mine. Perfect, really!
A good foundation or pressed powder. Of course, I guess every girl have one of these. If you still haven’t outgrown your loose powder, then I guess it’s time for you to grow up and get one. Silly girl! :-P I have Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation with SPF 20 in Honey. I have always loved these babies. Been using them for ages. They have the best shade for me that never fail me.
That perfect shade of lipstick. Of course, this is another must have. We must always have that kissable lips all day right? For those who want to achieve that natural, fresh look then you must keep shades that are closest to your lip color. Keep away from those vibrant ones. I have AVON Ultra Moisture Rich with SPF 15 in Tangerine. Simply because the shade is just light and the lipstick is uber moisture rich that I don’t need to add a blob of lip gloss. The shade is also perfect for my complexion. They make my lips look soft and just naturally pinkish.
Lip Balm. Again, as one moisture addict, I always need a lip balm to achieve that soft kissable lips. Mine is Burn Lippy Raspberry Lip Balm from The Body Shop. Again, this is something I’ve been using for ages. Simply because they are so sweet and smells really really nice. They are also not that greasy but gives just the right amount of gloss. I love them especially now that it’s getting really cold.

So there you are! My make up must haves. I never leave the house without them. :-)

Review: Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin (ni Bob Ong)

Minarapat kong isulat ang akdang ito sa wikang Tagalog upang bigyan ng kaukulang pagpupugay ang manunulat na Pilipino. Ipagpaumanhin na ang aking pamagat ay mayroon Ingles na salita, ito ay dahil sa nais kong maging iisa ang porma ng aking mga akda sa lathalaing ito. At higit sa lahat, dahil hindi ko talaga alam ang tagalog ng “book review”. :-P

Kakatapos ko lamang basahin ang pinakabagong akda ng isa sa aking paboritong Pilipinong manunulat na si Bob Ong. Masasabi kong bilang isang taong mahilig magbasa, minarapat kong maging mas bukas ang aking kaisipan sa pagtangkilik ng banyaga at Pilipinong manunulat. Subalit inaamin kong mas madalas akong tumangkilik ng mga librong gawa ng banyaga, hindi dahil mas magaling sila. Nais kong isipin na sadyang mas marami lang sila kesa sa mga Pilipinong manunulat.

Nakakalungkot na ang mga tulad kong may taglay na hilig sa pagbabasa ay nakukulong sa kakarampot na mga akdang Pilipino. Pero teka muna, nawawala na naman ako sa paksa kaya babalik lang akong muli. Hehe.. Ititigil ko muna ang walang saysay na pagrereklamo.

Nung una kong nakita ang librong “Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin”, ako ay nagulat. Hindi dahil sa kung anu pa man, kundi dahil sa ang pangit ng takip ng aklat na ito. (Ano nga ba sa tagalog ang “book cover”?) Sa unang tingin, iisipin mong isa ito sa mga maiiksing nobelang madalas na binabasa ng mga tinaguriang “jologs” ng lipunan. Subalit matapos ko itong basahin ay naintindihan ko kung bakit minarapat ni Bob Ong na ganun ang gawing pabalat ng kanyang akda. Ang librong ito ay tumatalakay o mas tamang sabihing kumukondena sa hindi magandang ginagawa ng pelikula at telebisyon at ng midya sa kabuuan.

Masasabi kong sa lahat ng kanyang mga libro, ito ang pinaka-direkta na pagkundinang ginawa ni Bob Ong. Dito ay nasaksihan ko ang mas matapang na Bob Ong. Mas direkta, mas sapul, mas kumpleto. Isang lathalaing hindi nagtatago sa mga normal na biro. Isang akdang hindi natatakot na sabihin ang nais. Isang akdang hindi kinakailangan ng matalinong mambabasa para maunawaan ang tunay na nilalaman. Ito’y isang akda na ang nais ay direktang lumaban sa mga mali ng lipunan. Subalit, sa lahat ng kanyang mga akda, ito ang pinaka hindi ko nagustuhan.

Siguro ay labis akong nasanay sa masusing pag-intindi sa mga akda ni Bob Ong. Labis akong natuwa sa mga librong akala mo sa una’y walang saysay subalit ang katotohanan ay punong puno ng aral. At mang mang kang matatawag kung hindi mo naintindihan. Masyadong naging sikat si Bob Ong sa kanyang mga linyang kumukuntil sa ating balintataw. Marahil ay mas nais kong basahin ang isang Bob Ong na puro kalokohan pero may sustansya kesa sa Bob Ong na matapang at direktang sinasabi ang nais ipakahulugan.

Subalit hindi ko sinasabing walang saysay ang akdang ito. Sa halip, ito ay isang akdang puno ng kabuluhan. Ito ay isang akda ng isang Pilipinong nais makakita ng mga mas makabuluhang palabas sa telebisyon at sine. Isang bagay na matagal ko ng nais isigaw. Nakakatuwang may isang manunulat na sinasalamin ang aking hinaing.

Hindi man ito ang paborito kong libro ni Bob Ong, nais ko padin sabihing isa ito sa mga dapat basahin. Kung nais mong matawa sa mga kalokohan ng Pilipino, kung nais mong magising sa mga bagay na dapat ay matagal mo ng napapansin, kung nais mong matuto.

Isang saludo para sa isang manunulat na Pilipino. Para sa isang manunulat na nagbibigay inspirasyon sa mga katulad kong may hilig sa pagbabasa at pagsusulat. Isang saludo para sa isang taong may taglay na talino at pagmamahal sa bayan. Sa isang manunulat na ginagamit ang talino upang pumukaw ng damdamin sa paraang maka-Pilipino, ang paggamit ng komedya para iparating ang saloobin.

Sa mga nais bumili, hinihikayat ko kayong tangkilikin ito. Kung nais ninyong tumawa at matuto. Sana’y ibukas ninyo ang inyong mga isip habang nagbabasa. At sana, higit sa pag-aakalang isa itong akdang hindi maka-Pilipino, tingnan nyo ito bilang isang akdang nais turuan tayong maging mas matalino.

Peanut Butter Co. and the Joyride!

One of my friend recently got himself a brand new car. So the first time that he ever brought it to the office, all of us are really excited.

They are my usual lunch buddies. So when he told us over lunch that his car was parked somewhere in Makati, alam na agad! JOYRIDE!

My friends and I acting like kids at the back seat!

We have our group’s official driver and we usually use his car on out of town trips or gimmicks. So seeing another friend drive for us is uber fun! I was really excited. All of us are teasing him like nuts and we all acted like kids. I kept on telling him “Ang bango ng car. Amoy bago.” And we all told him that we want to live longer. hahahaha.. But he’s a great driver, I tell you.

We initially planned to eat somewhere in Makati. But since we really want a “joyride”, we went all the way to the Mall of Asia. The ride is superb. We were laughing all the time. My friends are nice and all but they are definitely crazy! Swear! You would usually hear us laughing like there’s no tomorrow at the most silly jokes. Or corny for that matter.

So, while walking and looking for a perfect place to eat:

Friend 1: Sa Peanut Butter Co. tayo! Masarap dun.

Friend 2: Anong meron dito na wala sa iba? Dun tayo kumain.

Friend 1: Yun nga! Peanut Butter Co.

Friend 2: Talaga? Ok dun nalang.

Evidently, we gave in to his request and ate at PBCo. I so love peanut butter and the only dish that I can think of with peanut butter itself (spell KARE-KARE) is actually my all-time favorite. So just thinking that we’d eat somewhere with peanut butter on every single dish on the menu is like thinking “heaven” for me.

PBCo. didn’t disappoint me at all! The food is superb. Friend 1 suggested I get the Peanut Butter with Mallows Sandwich which I did and it was delicious. I can’t wait to drag G.p there. But she’s not a big fan of peanut butter but I guess she’ll love it still. We did enjoy the food. And we did have a great time. After dinner, we all went home with a happy tummy and life full of laughter.

Though my story didn’t end there. Remember the conversation between friend 1 and friend 2? (Scroll up if you didn’t, I knew you would!) Oh well! The next day we passed by Paseo Center. And guess what we saw? Yup! You got it right! There’s a PBCo. branch right beside our very own office building. As in tatawid ka lang! Ni hindi ka pagpapawisan. Epic fail! hahahaha.. All of us went “Anyareh?? Sa MOA lang pala merong PBCo. huh! Dumayo pa tayo eh kapitbahay lang pala natin yan.”.

Review: MondoJuice

G.p and I had a quick stop at Robinson’s Galleria last Saturday to have our 3rd IPL session at La Estetica. It was a hectic day for both of us since we had other commitments and appointments. Add the bad weather and we’re both a little edgy.

But when I passed by Mondo Juice and saw their gigantic poster showcasing a very yummy looking sandwich, we both stopped. Haha..

I instantly felt extremely hungry so we decided to try it out. We just ordered 1 Chicken Caesar Sandwich (cut in halves) and a Regular Iced Tea.

The sandwich is uber yummy. According to the info written on their walls, they baked their bread themselves to ensure 100% freshness of their sandwich. Cool huh? That’s why I guess their sandwich is really different. Their bread doesn’t taste like the regular ones that we can get on the grocery. Theirs is a little bit crunchy on the outside but uber soft on the inside. I honestly can’t describe it properly. Basta masarap! Their iced tea also taste different. It has this hint of vanilla and some lemon. Again, I can’t describe how it taste like but I can assure you that I loved it! :-)

I really wanna go back there! Maybe soon. Yey!

Happy 7th Boi!!!

Exactly 7 yrs ago, God blessed our family with his best gift ever, a little angel named Newel Irvin Lance.

People who knew me would know how important that little angel is in my life. You can’t love me without loving him first.

He is someone extremely special. Not only because he has special needs and requires special attention but also because he brought so much joy into our lives.

People knew me as someone strong. But I am not always like this. Those who knew me from way back then, when I am just a simple, insecure little girl, would know how much I transformed from being that little girl into a mature young woman who needs to be strong for her brother. That little boy, that little bundle of joy made me realize how strong I can be. That I am capable of handling so much.

He made me realize how much lucky we both are for having a family like ours. He made me value my family more. He brings us closer to each other. Because we know that at the end of the day, only our love for each other would matter.

Our little baby thought me to appreciate the little things. Like a baby’s cry or a kid’s laughter or the fact that he can do beautiful eyes or that he loves cakes and ice creams. Those little details that most moms fail to recognize or appreciate are the things that we value so much.

I am extremely grateful for having him as my brother. As my own little baby. I have long accepted the fact that I’ll be taking care of him as long as he needs me and as long as I live. Today, I glorify the Lord our GOD for giving us our lucky charm. I thank the Lord for the best 7 yrs with him and is praying for more years to come.

I wont pray him to cured of his sickness but I am praying for him to be a little better. I am praying for my family’s good health so we can all be strong enough to take care of him. Though deep in my heart I am still wishing for a miracle to happen but if that miracle won’t come, I am still grateful because we have him.

A lot of times I wish he is normal. But most of the time I am simply just grateful for his smiles and laugh and “beautiful eyes”.

To the little man who never fails to make me absolutely happy… HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY MY BABY!!! Mimi Ate will always love you. I promise to take care of you. And I promise to do everything to make you happy.

My 20cents worth…

I noticed that I am getting a bit more forgetful lately. More than my usual “makakalimutin” stunts. I was even joking some friends that I guess I have a memory disease of some sorts, having watched the Korean movie A Moment to Remember.

I guess it must be stress. Lack of sleep. Add the hiatus of Christmas. The recent event that I helped organize. The responsibilities that I need to handle. A lot actually.

I don’t know. I guess I really deserve some rest. Something I don’t think I’ll get soon. But Christmas and God and sharing and blessing and love always always surrounds me. I am one lucky girl. And I am thankful for everything that I have now.

Well, I think I must have missed ranting! I missed writing all my woes and my fears and pains and my stress and my disappointments.

I still have loads to blog. But I haven’t started on them yet. Loads of pics to edit. I don’t think I can ever finish them up. But I will. No matter how long it’ll take.

Review: Banana Leaf

It’s an all-time favorite. I remember the first time I tried this resto was with my college best friends and I really had a blast. Since then, it’s one of the most frequented resto by most of my friends because of their unique but very tasteful food menu, great service, affordable food and great ambiance.

My last visit however is one of the most memorable one. I went there with G.p to celebrate our monthsary. We dined, even ordered a steak mind you! When a guy approached our table and asked us if he could join us on the table to give way to other diners who happened to have kid with them. Though a bit pissed, we agreed. And then he started a conversation and we were just talking. Like normal strangers who happens to be on the same table. And then he told us to share the bill with his because he gets to have discounts on the resto. We didn’t agree initially but he insisted. And then, after paying our meal with his credit card, he didn’t let us pay! Swear! A stranger just paid our bill!! How lucky is that? I guess he must have liked one of us (or both?) because he asked for our numbers and friended us on Facebook. But he’s a total gentleman and is so nice.

Moral lesson? Share a seat, win a friend and maybe, if you’re lucky just like us, dine free!

Paskong Pinoy Klasiks (Year End Party 2011)

Months of preparation for a night to remember. :-)

It was a successful event filled with great production numbers by my fellow Navitaire-ians. It was hectic. I was more than stressed. I was sleep deprived but IT WAS ONE HELL OF A FUN!!

The event was held at Makati Shangri La. The venue was perfect. More than perfect actually. I wore a my barong (though it’s uber large and I don’t have a belt or some sorts), my Kengkoy Tee and my micro-mini skirt! hahaha… Ako na talaga! Boyfriend’s barong lang ang peg!

Will blog more about it soon. Details and all. But for now, let me sleep and rest. Manila traffic is dreadful!

Review: Slice and Dice

Another FoodVenture for G.p and I! We were on our way home to Angono when we suddenly have the urge to try another resto in Shaw area. It’s one of those little resto designed for the call center agents on the area so they are naturally open 24 hrs.

I tried their sizzling squid while G.p tried their steak. My Squid is overly yummy though the serving is really small. :-( The steak however has a bigger serving but it’s not something I’d really wow on. It’s not bland though… just typical. We had our then-favorite 7-11 French Vanilla coffee partnered with the meal. So at 1AM, we found ourselves extremely full. Hahaha..

Fashion Fail!

The company I work for is having it’s annual year-end party this coming December 6 (Tuesday). I have already planned my outfit as early as November and is very much excited. being part of this year’s organizing committee, I really wanna dress up and show them the Modern Filipiniana look that we are all talking about. (this year’s theme is Paskong Pinoy Klasiks)

I had my barong fixed a couple of weeks back. The lady told me that it’ll take her more than a week to finish the barong since I really want a major alteration to have it custom-fixed according to what I have in mind. And I was supposed to have it today. I went back and voila! No Barong for me.

Yup! She had the alteration started but left it unfinished!! Imagine my dismay?? I was totally heartbroken because I already have my perfect shoes and all. :-(

G.p and I went to the mall to have a quick look on probable outfit but we came home with only a tee. Though the tee was wonderful and all, I still don’t have anything to match it with. I am soooooo done. I’ll have a very busy 2 days so I don’t know how I can squeeze some shopping with the very little time left for me. And I’m so overweight that most of my old clothes don’t fit. I AM DEAD! Wish me luck. I was already checking out my favorite bloggers for some ideas. I hope the Fashion Goddess will hear my plea and help me!!

2012 Starbucks Coffee Planner

November marks the start of the yearly Starbucks sticker-collecting “panata” that most Pinoys have. :-)

But of course, for those coffee addicts like me, we’re not only eager to complete our sticker collection but we are very much eager to have our favorite Seasonal beverages that Starbucks offer. These year, they have my all-time favorites Peppermint Mocha and Toffee Nut PLUS they have a new flavor added on the roster… my new all-time favorite Cranberry White Chocolate Mocha!!

I got so addicted on the Cranberry drink that I was able to complete my collection earlier than usual. :-) Yey!

So last November 30, G.p gave me my very own Starbucks Coffee Planner in Cherry!

The 2012 planner is actually my favorite design of all the planners Starbucks has ever come up with because:

It’s small and handy! All the previous ones are kind big that made it difficult for me to actually carry them around. So I usually have a handy planner PLUS my Starbucks planner that I usually use at work or leave in the office. But I guess these year, my Starbucks planner is all that I need.
It comes with a pouch! How cute is that? I mean, common! Planner in a very fashyown pouch is really awesome.
The planner now has loads of pages for NOTES! Something I always do on my planners. I usually write lots and lots of notes that sometimes my planner gets a little messed up. Hahaha…
They have these very earthly feel. The planners come in different colors and design based on 5 different types of woods/trees. Amazing.

But of course nothing is really perfect. And since I’m so edgy and very metikulosa, here are some of the Not-So-Good-Things about the planner:

The string page marker with the Starbucks logo or mug is left-off. Instead, the planner comes with a bookmark. But I really think it’ll look better with a page marker. Something classy.
The wooden part is easy to scrap off. Promise. I almost had salubsob. Hahaha..
They don’t have a free ballpen! I miss the Starbucks pen or pencils.
Lesser vouchers. I hope they’ll give more next time. Haha..

The Best of Chico and Delamar’s The Morning Rush Top 10

I’ve been having problems on what to put on my wish list. Our team’s exchange gift costs around Php500 and I honestly can’t think of anything that would be around that prize. My friends and I have been joking that we want to receive cash as to free ourselves from the dilemma.

And then, I saw Chico Garcia’s blog post about their book coming out of the market! And guess what? It only costs Php 175! So I’m asking this book plus a couple more Bob Ongs! hahaha.. I’m so excited to read it! I hope they’ll have book 2 come out soon! Excited already! :-)

And I Cut Them All Away!

They say, when girls got broken hearted, stressed out, feeling a little bit insecure, insanely happy or simply sad… the first thing they do is get a new DO! :-)

Last week… I acted exactly like a girl. At almost 11PM, I went to my Tita’s Salon and asked her to cut my waist-long hair. As in I asked him to cut them all away! He was a bit hesitant at first. I’ve always had a long hair you see. And I just had my hair fixed recently. I have a long, shiny, straight hair that most envy. So why cut?

I don’t know. When people would ask me why the sudden change of look, I always say… I just got a little crazy one evening and allowed a crazier hairstylist to cut it. But I guess it must be because I want to be free. Free from all the pains, insecurities, stress… free from everything.

I had positive feedback from friends about my new look. Lots say they liked it better. So guys feel free to judge me. I personally liked it. I love how my Tita managed to make my face smaller with the pixie cut. :-) Such a genius. I love him to bits!

Mantra!

G.p and I decided to have a “supposedly” quick stop at the mall to have lunch. However, being me, we ended up checking out almost every stall.

Anyway, we passed by a little trinket stall that caught G.p’s attention because of an odd-looking star necklace. But my eyes got glued on their Mantra Bracelets! I saw something similar worn by a fashion-blogger so I was very eager to check them out.

G.p saw a bracelet that says “I’m a rock star.” so obviously, she got that one. She wanted me to have the “Blogger.” mantra bracelet but I really don’t like the actual bracelet design. I was looking for something that says FREEDOM but they don’t have any. The salesman was telling me to have a customized one but I need to wait for days. I was already disheartened when G.p told me that she saw a perfect Mantra for me. :-P

Guess what it says?

Yup! Mine says… “I’m a little rascal.” Do you guys agree?

Now G.p and I have a couple’s bracelet of some sorts. Sweetness!

#RandomActOfKindness: Give a Book, Give Knowledge

How many of you here have friends whose favorite bonding moments include collecting books for less fortunate kids, having a story-telling session with them, raising funds to help them go to school and spending lunch breaks watching kids dance and sing? None?!! Oh my! Poor you!

I am very fortunate to be friends with these people who care not only for themselves but gives time and effort and love to others.

It all started with a simple book drive. My friend has spearheaded a project that aims to collect books for the children of Food for Hungry Minds School. Being a certified bookworm and being someone who truly understands the importance of reading, I gave my 100% support. And of course, our entire Barkada made sure that we are all part of this project. All of us spread the news and helped collect the books. We also helped in arranging them and packing. I am extremely happy to be a part of something that will surely make a difference.

They say, a random act of kindness would surely make you happy. I say, I couldn’t agree more. This Give a Book, Give Knowledge project is just a start of a series of kindness that we all aim to spread. Isn’t it rewarding to know and feel that your efforts would help a lot of kids? That although you are not a billionaire who can start a foundation of some sorts, you can help by just giving your time, effort and old books to kids who can’t afford them.

I always say that if I ever win the lottery I will donate a part of the money to charity. But it is extremely rewarding to know that I don’t need to wait for that lucky day that I’ll hit the jackpot, today I can make a difference. Today, I can donate to charity. Today, I can do a Random Act Of Kindness. And today, I can spend the best times of my life with my friends who care for others as much I do.

I am one lucky girl! Thanks Jay, Blehm, Aiko, Jin, Cor and Gelo! And to my entire NSQA family. You made volunteering fun! Oh diba? Ang saya ng trip natin!! Madami pa tayong projects… magtatanim pa tayo ng mga puno at gagawa ng bahay (basta ako magpipintura). Sa ngayon, mangolekta muna tayo ng mga laruan. Bonding time na naman pag naglinis at nagbalot tayo.

Trying to get updated with my blogging…

Let me share with you now our experience in the Land of Tarsiers and Chocolate Hills… BOHOL!

We had a very early morning. We left Cebu via Ocean Jet as early as 6AM. G.p and I was up before the crack of dawn to have everything settled before we leave. We didn’t even have the time to have a proper brekky so we just grab some donut and a bottled water on the Pier.

We reached Tagbilaran at around 8AM. Our driver c/o Kuya Tatsky was already waiting for us. We have two more friends who’ll join us on our tour. Their plane from Manila will arrive at around 10AM so we have a good 2 hours to spend. Our driver drop us off on the nearest mall. And yes! BQ Mall or Bohol Quality Mall is open as early as 8AM! kaloka!

I was already starving by that time so I’m really looking for a perfect place to have breakfast. The moment I saw a Mc Donalds store, I already made up my mind and almost drag G.p there. But she insisted we try something not available in Manila.

And then there’s JO…

It’s this small coffee shop right inside BQ. It reminds so much of the old Figaro store in Robinson’s Place Ermita before they got renovated and turned into the all glassy store that they are now.

True to their slogan, they offer breakfast menu all day! Though we’re there at breakfast time so I guess it didn’t matter much. haha.. I was initially opting for some pizza and pasta but upon seeing that they offer sandwiches as well, I changed my mind.

Though it’s early morning, the sun is scorching hot so both G.p and I ordered their version of Frappuccino. G.p tried the hazelnut mocha while I opted for the stronger version of their mocha blend.

I got the Tuna Sandwich while G.p went for some Ham with Egg and Cheese Sandwich. We requested that they toast the bread a little bit more than usual and the lady who served us did exactly as she was told complete with a friendly smile. :-) Their sandwiches are serves with a separate coleslaw which I guess is perfect for those who doesn’t like coleslaw or specifically, veggies, on their sandwiches. Though their coleslaw is very yummy that I ate G.p’s! hahaha..

Overall dining experience? 7/5 stars! More that perfect. The lady who served us is extremely friendly I so much adore her. She made me believe that Tagbilaran is indeed the City of Friendship. Plus the sandwiches are sooo yummy. Though the Frappuccino are not that special but who cares? I don’t expect it to taste like Starbucks anyway. Add the fact that it’s very affordable. I so miss Cup of Jo. I hope they have one here in Manila (ASA?!!)

So guys, if you plan to visit Bohol anytime soon, make sure to drop by. Very much worth it!

Prints on Prints

I spent my last long holiday weekend getting updated with the fashion bloggers I follow. I noticed that most of them, if not all, are so in love with the idea of prints on prints!

I may be bold and fashion forward but one fashion rule I always stick to is the “no-print-on-print”. I grew up thinking that you must NEVER pair your flowery top with your checkered pants. I mean, spell C-H-A-O-S??

But I think, like all the rest of the world, fashion is changing. There are people who go against the rule and succeeded. GENIUS indeed. So I tried my luck on prints-on-prints department and here’s what I came up with.

Purple and Gray Canvass Dress from Solo | Fur Cardigan in Stripes that I got from a Bazaar | Black Peep-toe Pumps | Wide Belt

I wore my purple Solo dress (also worn here) and paired it with these uber lovely fur cardigan in stripes. Notice that I opted to match the painting-like prints of my dress with the bold stripes of the cardigan so as not to have chaotic look that I feared.

Crack Nail Polish by Nail Up in Green

Again, accessories play a very important part on every girl’s look. So here, I opted to ditch necklaces and go with the wide belt. Since I am still on the obese stage of my life, I go for the belt to help me have the much needed curves. And I think I nailed it on this outfit! *evil laugh*

I also added a connector ring and a basic black bangle. I am still not yet confident with the print-on-print idea that I put accessories to the minimum as to avoid looking like a Christmas Tree. hahaha..

However, since my motif is more on the black-white-grey shade, I decided to pop some color by having my nail polished in bright green. Tricky huh!

I super love this look. Yihee.. And because of that, I got really inspired on the print-on-print idea that you’ll find me experimenting on this more. Watch out for future posts.. :-P

I’m a Rock Star!!!

Another fashion blog guys… SORRY! As I’ve said countless times already, I’ve been keeping up with my blogging but I guess I’m not doing any good here as my pile seems to grow everyday! hahaha.. But I’ll try.. REALLY TRY!

Anyway, G.p have this very gorgeous top/vest with a rock star feel complete with that very MJish look of embellished shoulder pads that I’m dying to wear! (Stole the top and secretly wore it for work! hahaha .. Said sorry after anyways!)

Initially, I planned to wear this one on a Friday and pair it with a nice fitting jeans and equally drop-dead gorgeous heels! Can you imagine it? Very Rihanna I tell you!

However, I also have this very pretty A-line pink skirt that I haven’t used for quite some time now…

And so you guessed it right! I made the most unusual outfit match and come up with a Rockstar-girlish-smart casual-look!

I love the way this outfit made me look ssooo sexy with that unbelievably small waist because of the top, that “illusion” of bigger boobs created by the collar that rest right on top of my chest and very full hips because of the A-line skirt. The sleeves is also perfect for making my ridiculously large arms look a bit smaller. Agree??

I also love the fact that the top complimented my skirt to achieve that business look that I’m aiming since I’m wearing it for work. I’ve used my black peep toe pumps to complete my smart ensemble for the day.

Accessories is another major factor in dressing up. So I’ve decided to combine rockstar and formal accessories. Since I already have green on my skirt, I opted to use my beaded bracelet for the rockstar look and since I’m wearing pink, I also wore my pink studded bronze bangles with matching ring. I added another huge oval ring to complete my attire. I chose not to wear necklace or earrings as to avoid looking like a walking Christmas tree. Remember.. I am still vying for that business casual look so over-accessorizing is a big no-no!

Little Purple Dress

I got this cute dress ages ago from Page. G.p bought me this when she noticed that I can’t get my hands off this love but is very hesitant to buy because it seems to be a little too ruffled (too much ruffles on the dress). haha..

Anyway, this is what I wore on my first day back at work after my very fun vacay!

I was a little too lazy to dress up so I chose a dress that stands out on her own. I just paired it with my very reliable grey cardigan (the dress is sleeveless), black flats, violet garter bracelets and no make up! Voila! I stand out.

All my girl friends go gaga over the dress. My guy friends on the other hand teased me by telling me I looked like a contestant for Dance Olympics or something. :-P Oh how I love them!

Anyway, I love the fact that I still manage to be fashionable even on my lowest moment. hahaha.. Read: tinatamad bumalik sa trabaho pagkatapos ng bakasyon!

I was trying to hide the double chin but I guess it only made my face rounder than usual. I look like an ensaymada but who cares??? Alright! I do! hahah..

It was a week after my Cebu-Bohol trip when I wore this love…

Looked kinda familiar? Oh yes! You’ve seen it here. I wore this on my Cebu day tour. I only did a minor change by adding a grey belt to achieve that “smart casual look” since I wore this at work. :-) I actually paired it with my black wedges (worn here) while inside the building to complete my office look but I changed into these very comfy abaca sandals later in the evening on my way home. I also have my white glasses on and my yellow handbag to add color to my black ensemble.

I’m still borderline obese on this photos (oh well, I still am now!) and very tan (negra) but I hope you still liked my look.

If there’s one thing every girl should learn from the Duchess of Cambridge herself, Kate Middleton, is that it’s okay to repeat outfits. Mix-and-match is every girl’s best friend. We must get pieces that could be worn on different occasions like this dress. Since it’s very light and breezy, it can be worn while on tour but could also serve as an office attire. Take note that the dress length is on the “safe” side. Meaning, it’s not too short for work or too long for a tour or maybe a simple day at the mall. ;-)

I’m trying to keep it up with my blogging but my overwhelming Cebu and Bohol photos are really keeping me busy! Plus my work is not helping at all, with all those EMRs and certification deadlines I am really dead tired once I got home that the only thing I can do is tweet! hahaha..

The Last Part of my Cebu Day Tour

Oh! I’m sorry for being MIA these past few days. I had a really busy week at work that I can’t squeeze anything other than a couple hours of sleep. Plus! These nasty colds I’ve got is really putting me down. But anyways, I’m back with a vengeance so pardon me if I’ll bombard you with lotsa posts! \m/

So before I end up blabbering again like I usually do, let me get back to the original topic. The final leg of my Cebu adventure!

After that sumptuous and sossy lunch we had at Pino Inasal, we continue with our day tour by visiting some of the tourist spots in Cebu City itself. Kristina has been teasing us during lunch that we’ll be visiting the US and China after lunch. And that we must have our passports ready. Brianna, that very pretty ausie kid, immediately went to her mom and with worried face says “I don’t have my passport with me mom. I left it at the hotel!” That made us all laugh, I tell you! :-) Kids… oh how I love them!

Anyway, we later found out why Kristina said we’d be leaving Philippines for our next destination. She actually meant we’ll be going to Beverly Hills!!

Oooppss! Beverly Hills, Cebu City that is! Where the Philippine Taoist Temple is located. I’ve been hearing about this place and saw a couple of pics on other blogs so I have an idea already. However, I’m still amazed at how gorgeous the place is.

There is a sign at there telling all tourist to avoid speaking loud or causing noise while on the Temple. And they are very strict in not allowing tourists to take photos of their saints and of the praying area thus keeping the place holy.

I am simply overwhelmed with the beauty and the grandeur of the place. Definitely worth a visit.

Our next stop is the Cebu Heritage Monument. It’s actually just a plaza of some sorts depicting the best of Cebu. They have sculptures of the famous Cebuanos. Some sculptures show some of Cebu’s history. It’s really like Cebu on it’s finest and Cebu History in one glance.

I, however, love the photos that G.p took while here! Take a look and tell me your thoughts.

Right across Cebu Heritage Monument, we checked out the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House. Believed to be one of the oldest house in the Philippines. Built almost 300 yrs. ago!

This is definitely my favorite among all the other tourist spots we’ve been that day. I love seeing things right from the Spanish era. The Yap-Sandiego’s house showcases the best of the Spanish era. Showing and displaying antiques and some relics.

After that amazing time travel we had at the house, we then headed to Magellan’s Cross and the Sto. Nino de Cebu church. It’s really great that I finally saw 2 of Cebu City’s most popular tourist spot.

Right across Magellan’s cross is the Cebu City Municipal Hall or Provincial Hall (I’m not sure! bwahaha). So I also took a quick snapshot.

It’s a Sunday when we went there so there are a lot of devoted catholics in the area. Also, there is an on-going mass when we arrived so it was almost impossible to take nice shots. :-) However, I took the opportunity to buy my baby bro a Sto. Nino. Something my Mama love so much.

So that concludes my Cebu Day Tour. :-) Had so much fun and really learned loads about Cebu. I’m so thankful I booked for Cebu Trip Tours. They made my stay in Cebu fun, safe and affordable. Thanks also to Kristina, our very reliable guide for being such a sweetheart!

Review: There You’ll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones

I was scanning thru a list of books to request for my first ever Book Sneeze Review when I stumbled upon this very intriguing front cover. And scanning on the book’s plot, I told myself “This is it!”.

I am such a fan of young love. I believe they are the most innocent and most real kind of love. This book tells the most real and most innocent young love and so much more…

The story is all about a young girl named Finley Sinclair. Daughter of a hotel magnate and sister of CNN breakthrough reporter who was killed by the terrorist in Afghanistan 2 years ago. Her brother, Will, was murdered when his brother was trying to do good and obey God’s will in spreading love and peace. Her brother’s death tore her family and broke Finley’s faith in God.

Now as she was trying to create a song for his brother by going to the land that changed his brother’s life forever, she found not only the ending of her song but also the ending of her miseries and the answers to her questions.

This is a story of a girl who tries to find God by following her brother’s footsteps. A girl who found love on the most uncommon place. A girl who witnessed death twice but witnessed it differently. The first broke her while the latter made her whole. But both brought her closer to God.

This is a story of a young lady who’ve been through a lot but manages to step up and keep up. A young lady who bravely fought her battle called life.

This is a story of God who once again proven to us that we might think He is not listening to all our pleas but in reality, He does. All we’ve got to do is listen more carefully. Listen with our open minds and kind heart. Listen to Him talking to us through the clouds, the trees, the people around us.

This is a story who not only made me smile, made me laugh, made me cry at times but most of all this is a story who made me realize how lucky I am for having my family. This is a story who reminded me to have faith in God and never question his will. This is a story who reminded me that whenever I feel too much burden on my shoulders, all I have to do is tell myself that I am victorious over all things because I have a loving God who would take away all my pains and all my worries.

Kudos to Jenny B. Jones for this wonderful novel. I can feel that God has been with you while you are writing this piece of art. I saw His grace in every pages of the book. I feel His love in every word and for that I thank you.

It feels great to finally read again. :-) Thank you Book Sneeze for the opportunity to read wonderful books. To do one thing I love the most… READING! Ready for the next one. :-)

Review: Papa John’s Pizza

It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon. G.p and I wanted to watch Real Steel before I go back home in Paco. We initially planned to watch it in SM Taytay but G.p got a change of heart so we opted for Sta. Lucia instead.

G.p was shocked upon seeing that Papa John’s is now on Sta. Lucia, we saw one at Greenhills that day we watched GLEE but we’re not able to dine in because we don’t have time.

Today however, we’re both starving and is craving for some pizza so we decided to try it out. We ordered Root beer float for me, Penne Marinara and 12” Grilled chicken Deluxe Pizza.

My verdict? I specially love the pizza! Their crust is crunchy and yummy. The dough is very tasty that you would really want to eat the crust. :-) The pasta is a bit too sour for me but adding a bit more cheese compliments everything. The Root beer float is also a must have. I’m glad I didn’t order desserts because this one really serves as drink and dessert in one. G.p also showed how much she loved the pizza because she was able to finish off 3 slices!!

Aside from our orders they also serve us with these…

Garlic Butter dip and Green Pepper! We initially didn’t know what these are for but upon checking out their place mats, it seems like we’re supposed to bite on the pepper while the garlic butter serves as a dip for the pizza crust. Very nice idea! Maybe this is to ensure that we don’t throw the pizza crust like most do. :-)

We dine at around sunset and we’re so lucky we have the most perfect view. Imagine eating yummy pizza while having these as your background?

It is happiness indeed! :-D It feels great to have precious little moments with my love. I feel so much blessed!

Review: Pino Inasal (Part 2 of my Cebu Day Tour)

After that awesome morning at the Mactan Island, Cebu Trip Tours brought us to Pino Inasal for our lunch. Lunch by the way is included on the Php1200 per pax tour that we got from Diplomat Hotel.

I was not really expecting too much for our lunch. It’s just stated on our itinerary that our tour includes buffet lunch. But considering the rate package, Php1200 ONLY, I was only thinking it’s some so-so restaurant.

So imagine how impressed I am upon seeing Pino Inasal! And when we entered, I was definitely awed.

The place defines luxury perfectly. The interiors reminds so much of those 5-star hotel restaurants here in Manila. It’s not cramped like the normal restaurants and I love that they have these long tables. Perfect for big groups really.

The moment we entered, we were immediately ushered to our long table. We got settled in while some opted to freshen up before heading to the buffet table. So, G.p and I got the chance to check out the restaurant’s powder room. And guess what? The powder room is uberly sosyal! It even has couch inside. Definitely very posh!

The lavatory and sink. Very Victorian. The entire restaurant, and yes even the powder room, is VERY MUCH GOLD.

After our quick tour of the powder room, G.p and I headed to the buffet table which is located on the side of the restaurant. They’ve got a wide variety of food to choose from. Beef, calamares, chicken, even Tinola (though I was not able to try Tinola because G.p won’t get me a bowl of this love. hmp! tamad much!)

Our “Family”! :-) We have a long table and it’s fun eating with these lot.

The food is great! I specially love the fish fillet with sauce (don’t ask me what it is, I really don’t know!) and the calamares. Dinuguan is also yummy. And the desserts are all awesome. I was not able to get a picture of MY dessert so I ask Kristina to let me take a shot of her dessert. Haha!

My plate! :-) All diet and weight problem forgotten. Even the rice is yummy!

After the yummy lunch, we then went back to our van to continue with our Cebu day tour. :)

Good Morning Mactan Island! (Part 1 of my Cebu Day Tour)

We had a very early second day in Cebu. I was so excited that I was not able to get a proper sleep and I end up waking a little bit earlier than planned. But knowing how kupad I am in preparing, G.p end up a bit pissed as I had to rush back to our hotel room twice because I forgot something. :-P

Taxis are everywhere in Cebu. If you ever ask a local how to go to a specific place, they’ll simply tell you to hail a cab.

We reached the South entrance of the Ayala Mall at exactly 9AM. But because of some unfortunate events, we end up having a very early stroll at the mall.

I’m always on my phone! Yay! Doing some business while on vacay and yet I never fail to pose! Me already!

Since we had 1 hour to spare, we had breakfast at Seattle’s Best. We really wanted to go to Starbucks but it’s quite far so we just settled ourselves here. I am not much hungry and G.p eats like a cockroach so we just got Chocolate Donut with crushed almonds and a Javachip Javakula to cool us off. G.p didn’t like the donut much but I love the Javakula.

We went back to the Turista Desk at exactly 10AM and settled on the couch provided on their reception. We didn’t have to wait long as Kristina, the Cebu Trip Tour guide, arrived on time. Wow! She greeted us with a warm smile and introduced herself. We then headed to our van to meet the other tourist that will be joining us on the tour. We have the Australians, the Norwegians and of course, us, the Manila Girls! Feeling Turista talaga!

The moment everyone has settled, Kristina’s Tour Guide mode automatically starts. She then went on and on explaining everything there is to know about Cebu City and Cebu in general. She turned on the radio for us to hear a Cebuano DJ greet us. As in we’re all being greeted in Cebu!! In a local Cebu radio station. How cool is that?

Kristina also gave us lots of FYI about the buildings and the places in Cebu. She even have lots of Showbiz info. This building that we passed by according to her is a hospital/school owned by the Larazabals, Donna Cruz’ husband. Whoa!

Mactan Island is separate from the mainland Cebu, but they are connected by this multi-million bridge built during the Ramos administration.

That other bridge is the old and smaller Mactan Bridge built during the Marcos administration. :) See? That’s a bit of history now. Our driver mentioned the cost of each bridge but I forgot to jot it down. hehe..

Our first stop is the Mactan Shrine in Mactan Island, Lapu-Lapu City. G.p and I are uber fond of the Norwegian kid so I took this stolen shot. Guys, meet the Norwegians! They are from Oslo, Norway but the father is Spanish while the mother is Vietnamese. Their son, Jonathan, speaks Norwegian, English and Spanish to boot. Not to mention he’s uber cute!! Adorable!

Oh! I heard this bags and wallets calling me so I can’t help but check them out. :-P Shoppingera much? Kristina and G.p had to drag me away from these love.

I got my souvenirs from this shop. My friends are all telling me how nice the bags in Cebu are so I got mini shoulder bags for only Php 50 each. Key chains cost Php 10. I also got wallets made from coconut shell for only Php 100/3pcs.

Finally, our first stop. Magellan’s Shrine. The spot was believed to be the exact area where Magellan was killed by Lapu-Lapu during the battle of Mactan hundreds of years ago. I’m so lame in history so I would suggest you just Google about it. :-P

While on this very shore, hundreds of years ago, the great battle happened. It was weird knowing that the very spot I’m standing holds great history.

Cebu City is very sunshiny. So you’ll see me with my purple umbrella at all times. :-)

Also on the Mactan Shrine is the Lapu-Lapu Monument. These monument serves as a tribute to Philippines’ first hero. The strong warrior who defeated the great Magellan. See? It takes a Filipino to kill one of the greatest voyager in history. Although this monument reminds me so much of Aljur and his Machete looks. hahaha… I wonder if Lapu-Lapu really looks like this, with the abs and all. :-P

I don’t know what these are but I guess it’s part of the Mactan-Battle-hundreds-of-years-ago-look. As according to Kristina, every year, the Cebuanos are re-enacting the Battle of Mactan with famous celebrities playing Magellan and Lapu-Lapu. For the past two years, its Manny Pacquiao as Lapu-Lapu and Dennis Trillo as Magellan. Big-time!

I specifically ask G.p to take photos of me with the foreign tourist. Para sosyal! Here, you’ll see the Australians.

Here’s another view of the Magellan Shrine. I guess each side holds different names of the some great voyagers. Not really sure. Don’t quote me on that! Haha..

Here you’ll see the Australians posing on the plaque where they said Magellan breathe his last. (naks! dramatic?) They also have a wonderful painting of the Battle of Mactan as their background.

Cebu is also known for their guitars and Mactan Island has lots of guitar factories. We went to one of the biggest and the best guitar factory in Cebu, Allegre Guitars.

We we’re greeted by Manong tour guide who explains everything there is to know about guitars. The type of woods used. The different designs INSIDE a guitar which cause the difference in sound. He told us that it takes 6 years just to dry the woods to be used in guitar making to ensure that there is no moisture left. That no nails are used in making guitars so they have to glue the woods together and tie them securely. Whoa! No wonder guitars are that expensive.

Their souvenir shop. G.p got me a guitar bookmark for Php 60. A bit pricey but it’s expected since tourist are always visiting them. They also have key chains for Php 25-40 but if you’re a thrift buyer like me, I suggest you don’t buy them from here as you can get them for only Php 10.

After the guitar factory, we then headed back to Cebu City to have our lunch. But now, we passed by the old bridge. See? We were able to have a quick tour of the Mactan Islands in roughly around 2hrs. Not bad at all.

Review: AirPhil Express

We got our Manila-Tagbilaran round-trip tickets for 2 for only Php930 last May when AirPhil Express had their Piso-Fare promo. It was really an “it’s-sale-so-I’ll-buy-it-now-will-worry-later” thingy.

AirPhil is a low cost carrier. However, in our country, Cebu Pacific is the leading airline so most are really used to their planes. I had the misfortune of riding Zest Air as my very first plane experience so I guess I am still traumatized.

But AirPhil has proven to me that low cost is not at all equivalent to low-class. Aside from the fact that we got delayed on our MNL-TAG for 30minutes causing us to almost miss our Ocean Jet ferry, I have nothing bad to say on the experience. They have the most accommodating attendants. Very fast check-in agents and process.

We experience a little turbulence on our journey back to Manila but our very capable pilot ensures our safe touch down.

So to AirPhil Express and your guys, thank you! Thank you for the safe trip.

GLEE: the 3D Concert Movie

G.p and I went to Greenhill's a couple of weeks ago to settle my ChaCha issue. However, because of some unfortunate incidents I end up pissed and disappointed. So to cool my nerves off, we decided to go to the cinemas and watch a local flick only find out that GLEE the 3D Concert Movie is already showing! Yes!

So being a major major fan of the TV series, we immediately changed plans and buy tickets for GLEE instead. Another plus factor is that it’s being shown on PROMENADE which both of us haven’t tried yet.

The movie house is almost empty. Maybe it’s because of the fact that it’s a weekday and we opted for the lunchtime schedule. But we definitely didn’t feel so much alone because of the group of kids who sits behind us. Mind you! Those kids are noisy! As in, you’d literally feel like you’re watching a REAL concert because of them. Not to mention we’re watching it on 3D so concert talaga ang peg. Those girls scream their hearts out every time Blaine is being shown. They we’re laughing and screaming and singing. Oh the joys of being a kid!

As for my review? As much as I love the TV series, I think the movie is a major fail. I mean come on! All the songs shown there are basically the same stuffs that we are seeing on TV for FREE. They didn’t even bother adding a couple of new songs. As in nothing new. Even the dance production and all. Everything is as if it was copied from the series and turned into a 3D video. Although of course, I really adore the Gleeks that I don’t mind hearing the songs again and again.

SMART: Case Closed

Last October 05, after a couple more follow ups, SMART has replaced my black HTC ChaCha with a purple one. This time, better.

Although I’m now much happier with my new phone, the fact still remains that my experience with SMART is a major headcase. So much for the first impression.

Anyway, everyone deserves a second chance and I am willing to give SMART that chance to redeem themselves. So to SMART, please improve your service. That’s the best way to keep customers and attract new ones. To HTC, especially to Jackie, keep it up guys! You are awesome. The help you’ve given me is more than what I have expected from you. So thank you!

G.p and I are in Cebu when all the hype of No Other Woman heats up our twitter timelines.

G.p initially planned to watch the movie BEFORE we leave Manila but we we’re not able to squeeze it on our schedule.

So after our Cebu City Tour, G.p literally dragged me on Ayala Center Cebu’s cinema.

We’re both so excited! Not only because we’re finally watching the movie that twitter people are all talking about but also because it’s our first time to actually watch a movie/stay inside a mall while on vacation! Plus, when the cinema showed their plugs… it was Bisaya! hahaha.. We can’t understand a thing but keber! I loved the experience.

The movie is so worth our time. I love it. Not only the funky lines, not only Anne’s drop dead gorgeous body, even not only DEREK RAMSAY! I love the totality of the movie. As in the whole package. The way it was delivered. The characters, the timing… it was brilliant! Of course, that’s only MY HUMBLE OPINION. :)
